So where is the Tor? About 500 feet above this tired hiker. The Tor is a natural, conical hill that rises sharply from the flat Somerset Levels surrounding the southwestern England town and Abbey that share its name. We had just spent an afternoon making this somewhat arduous ascent and were resting before returning to the nearby cathedral town of Wells. The views from on top the Tor out over the English countryside were breathtaking, to be sure, but not unlike many others in this beautiful land. This view seemed to better capture the feel of Glastonbury Tor.
